Plano Balloon Festival

Back in September we met up with our good friends the Zinckes and went to the Plano Balloon Festival. The kids were super excited and other than the day being extremely warm, had a great time.

Here we all are watching as the Balloons are launching off. I'd never been to a baloon launch and I must say, it was pretty cool. These things are huge!

We walked around for a total of maybe 15 minutes and decided that instead of trying to push ourselves through the hordes of people that were there that we would take refuge in a corner and make do with what was there. Thankfully, we picked the Kashi corner, which had more than enough tents to keep the kids entertained. Bonus: They gave out this little booklet that if you got filled up with stamps you would get a bag of goodies. Kids loved it and it kept us occupied for quite some time.
Later that evening they lit the Balloons up, and that by far was my favorite part of all. They would light them all up at the same time or do what was a called a "Twinkle" Light, where they would go on and off. It looked so cool. And we were allowed to go onto the field while they were doing this and so the kids were able to get an up close look at all the Balloons in their glory :)

While lit up the Balloons were quite HOT! This pic was taken seconds before the man in the basket lit his balloon up. We didn't know, but you can see in the pic his hand reaching up back there ready to go. Let's just say that when the man lit it, Jackson literally jumped out of the basket because of the heat and would not come close to a balloon after that. He was a bit traumatized!! Ooops!

After they lit up the Balloons for a while there was a fireworks show. The kids loved it and danced to the music and watched the fireworks. All in all a great day!
