Birthdays Birthdays!!

The last week of June/first week of July are always crazy weeks for us. Why? Well, because Jackson and Mikaela have birthdays six days apart. So I feel that we go from one birthday celebration and jump right into the next one without any recovery. I thought this year would be a bit easier because Disney World was their big birthday celebration and we'd be good. But of course I was wrong! Seriously, how dumb was I to think my children would not want their birthdays celebrated on their actual DAYS!!

So, literally three days before Jackson's birthday (the 27th of June) Jackson starts asking questions as to who is going to be at his party. PARTY!?!? I looked at him and kindly reminded him that their was no party this year and that we'd just do cake with the family. That was all this little mind needed to start his wheels turning. He said to me that if I was going to bake a cake then couldn't he just call his friends to see if they wanted to come over to have cake with him. I thought that was harmless enough so I said okay sure, I mean I really didn't want all that cake left over anyway. Then he says, well if his friends are going to be here anyway for cake, couldn't we blow up the pool and have them all stay and play a bit in the pool. I say yes once again and that's when I realized he'd concocted his own party!! That stinker!!

By this point I saw how badly he wanted to have fun on his day so I said if he wanted a party he was going to have to share it with Mikaela. He quickly agreed and off we were to the store to go and buy invites and goodie bag stuff to make his party official. Mikaela was way excited too because I guess she really wanted a party as well. So that night we wrote out the invites (giving everybody two days notice!!) and went and delivered them the next morning. I really didn't think anyone was going to show because of the late notice, but plenty of friends showed up to make their party fun!

Here they are blowing out their candles! I can't believe he's SIX and she's FOUR!! Eating their much requested Jello-O cake out on the deck!

Of course having a blast opening presents!

Thanks to all the friends that came on such short notice!!

After the celebration was done here I go again thinking I'm in the clear. Mikaela celebrated with Jackson and we'd be good. Right? WRONG!! She woke up on her birthday (July 3rd) and stated she really wanted to go to Fat Cats because she LOVES it so much and could we PLEASE take her!! Jared was off that day because of the 4th of July and he couldn't resist her request (to tell you the truth neither could I)! We said sure and her face totally lit up! So we got everyone ready and off we went to Fat Cats.
Here's Lex bowling for the very first time! She loved all the balls and the place was so empty when we went that she had a blast running around checking out all their different colors!

Here's Mickey having a go at it.

And here's the resident bowling pro! He says he's a good bowler because the Wii has helped him practice!!

Later that night Jared went to the store to get Mikaela a small piece of cake and we went ahead and sang to her one more time. What a fun day!

glad it all turned out ok. I am still sorry that we had to miss it. Maybe one year we will actually be able to come. We still need to bring Jackson a present.

Happy Birthday family! We wish we could be there to help you celebrate. Tell Jackson Ben says hi. Doesn't look like we will be going anywhere else until the baby is born, so we won't be going north, but maybe you guys can head down and meet the little guy.

Happy Birthday!!! Wow I love how sneaky our wonderful children can be. It is just so cute you have to smile and go with it. Sounds like you have been having TOO much fun!!
