4th of July

I know it's almost the end of July but I had to post about our 4th of July before the month was over! This year we were quite excited for the fourth and had planned all these fun activities to take are kids to so that they could really enjoy the day. You name it, it was on our agenda: Parade, Cherry Days, Picnic, Hike, Grilling, Fireworks...the works. UNFORTUNATELY, our plans were quickly derailed when our dear little Lex woke up and had a raging 102* fever! The night before she felt warm but I chalked it up to being out in the sun for must of the day. Boy was I wrong.

So, we changed our plans and I opted to stay home with Lex and Jared did a tamer version of the day with the older two.

So he did take them on a hike. Here they are on the Pond Trail, a little hike that we had done with our friends from church earlier in the week. This little pond is about at the halfway point of the hike and is the highlight of the entire hike for the kids! Jared says they spent more time at the pond than actually on the hike!

They came home and Lex was still in no shape to be out mingling with people, so we grilled, ate in the backyard and waited for it to get dark. Then we pulled out our fireworks and went across the street to have our own little firework spectacular with our friends. By that point Lex was sleeping soundly for the first time all day, so I took her baby monitor with me so I could breathe fresh air for the first time all day!

After we ran out of fireworks we went up on our neighbors hill and watched all the fireworks from across the valley. Some we couild see better than others, but the kids didn't seem to mind:) They were just happy to be watching them!
