Napa and Sonoma: Part Two

The last two days we were in Sonoma and Napa respectively, and boy did we try and cram as many things in as we could. First we started off with Nascar...yup that's right Nascar. When we were booking our trip we could not find hotel vacancies anywhere! When we asked around if there was some festival going on, they informed us that Nascar was in town. We're not big race car fans, but we decided to go and take a look if it attracted so many people to Sonoma for the weekend.
When we arrived we were greeted with this sight...lots and lots full of RV's!! Some of these people are true die hard race car fans. All the RV's simply reminded Jared and I of the movie "Cars" and all the RV's they had when the race was taking place:) I guess the movie was a little more accurate than I thought:)
Since it was so loud and we had Alexis we decided to get her earplugs. I thought she looked so cute I had to take a picture!

Later that day we went to the Viansa Winery. We payed for the wine tour (which unfortunately was the same price whether or not you were actually going to taste wine or not...bummer) and learned quite a bit about the wine making process. It's quite intricate and it was fun to learn something new.
This is us at the top of the Winery. What a gorgeous view I thought.
Apparently Viansa is having such a good crop this year that these grapes are bigger than normal for this time of year. But don't try to pick and eat these grapes, I learned these are simply for wine making and if eaten right off the vine are super bitter.
The reason we picked to visit this winery was because they didn't only specialize in wine. They make there own olive oils, chocolate, and various cheeses. So Jared and I had plenty of things to taste while there. Our favorite was there Olive oils, Aritichoke Pesto spread, and Lemon Buttery Jam. We brought samples of all three home and love love love them:) Below is a picture of one of the olive trees on the land.

As if we hadn't tasted or eaten enough already, we finished the day with a trip to the Sonoma Cheese Factory. Yummy!! We ate so many samples of all the cheeses that we were not hungry for dinner at all. If you're ever in Sonoma and love cheese like we do, this is the spot!!

Our last day was spent back in Napa and we pretty much just woke up late, had breakfast and walked around the little town center. We were sad to say bye to our mini-vacation but we were excited to get back to our other kiddies. Here's us in the car ready to go home. Thanks Mom for taking care of Jackson and Mikaela while we were away!!
