What's Been Consuming our Lives...

this.
This is the current state of Alexis' room! AGHGH!! No we haven't decided to be all creative and re-design her room. Jared is currently trying ever so hard to find the dang leaks in this pipe running from my kitchen sink directly down the wall of her room. For some time now there has been this weird brown spot on her carpet and all this time we thought it was a mistake from the carpet cleaners chemicals. Well, when we finally had cleaned the spot four times Jared and I thought, hmmm, maybe it's not the chemicals.
Needless to say, when he ripped up the carpet, voila, a nice puddle of water. From where it was coming from, we yet had no clue. So we asked our wonderful neighbors for their assistance and they sent over those whome they'd knew could be of help. Once again, THANKS SO MUCH, Kathleen and Brooke, for without your families inputs we would still be at a loss.
After all the much needed advice, another neighbor came over and helped with what you see above. Apparently there was a huge crake in the pipe, the insulation was completely saturated, and the drywall was all wet. I'm surprised there wasn't any mold...thank goodness. As for how things are coming along, slowly but surely is all I can say. We fix one leak and Jared discovers another, and another. Today may be our final leak free day, I'm keeping my fingers crossed:)
Not to make this post any longer than need be but I had an interesting conversation with my neighbor regarding all this the other day and it made me think a bit. For those of you who know, we've had quite the downs lately in our little family, more so than the ups. We were really sick for a while there, Jacks had a huge accident, then the pipe leaking, then our furnace going out (which is currently still not fixed) and to top it all off the possibility of lay offs looming over our head.
As I was telling her about our latest and greatest, she looked at me and said "Honey what are you doing wrong over at your house that the Lord keeps punishing you guys." I know she didn't mean it in a bad way, and I didn't actually take offense but simply replied, "You know I choose to think of it more like...what am I doing Right that my Father in Heaven is saying what else can I send their way and see if they can rise above it." She didn't say much after that, and I sure as heck hope that didn't come across as rude or vain. By no means is there perfection here on the Dubreuil front. But honestly, if I don't think about it that way I think after all that we're going through, I might just curl up into a little ball and never emerge! Does that make any sense at all to anyone or just me? Maybe just me:)
At any rate, thankfully, our sicknesses are at bay for a bit, our pipe is slowly being fixed with the drywall hopefully to go up this weekend, and our furnace will hopefully get looked at this week. As for lay offs...we were thankfully spared this round. Gratitude and thankfulness are the only thing in my heart right now. And that's good enough for me.

Nothing like friends who kick you when you're down :) Actually that made me think of the story in the Bible of Job- didn't his friends ask the same thing? Anyway, good luck with everything. Hopefully things will be looking up soon!

You are great at seeing the positive side of things. Sometimes I need to be reminded of all that I have been blessed with so that I stop being so negative. I am so glad things are moving in a good direction for your little family. Hopefully, things will continue to get better. :)

I hate house problems!

It made my eyes water when I read what your neighbor said. That is so off the mark- I can't believe it. A couple people told us right after Ian relapsed that we need to figure out what we are doing wrong in our lives so that he can get better. (!!!!?????) We don't believe in a vengeful God. There is a quote by Richard G. Scott that helps me at times like this-
http://amanderella.blogspot.com/2009/02/i-remember-that-feeling.html

It's a long post and the quote is towards the end- starting with, "When all seems to be going right..." Anyway- I just thought of it when I was reading your post.

We love you guys!

Seems like there is always something to sap up any extra money we save! Car repairs, medical bills etc. I think if you moved "HOME" everything would be fine!!! Just a thought. Good luck with everything, hang in there.
Love you

Is this why I haven't seen my running buddy? Totally kidding, I know you have been consumed! And I just want to say you for sure handle things wonderfully...I mean you even managed to fit in visiting teaching in the middle of all this. I give you an A! Because really, does my friend Sandra get anything besides that?
