Ladybugs

On Earth Day we headed over to the library for their Earth Day program. They had been advertising it for about a week and when I mentioned it to the kids they really wanted to go. Why you might ask??? Not just for the books and cookies that they were going to take part in, but for the LADYBUGS!! At the end of the night they gave each child a packet of ladybugs to spread in a garden. The kids were so excited they could talk about nothing else. So just as promised they each received a packet of ladybugs.

Now I know we don't have a garden, so three packets were a little much for out little family, so we distributed our extra two packets to some neighbors that always have thriving gardens during the summer. As for our packet, well, we distributed it amongst our new bark! I know not a great place, but I think the ladybugs did just fine.

Here's the pics of Jackson proudly distributing the ladybugs. Notice there is no Mikaela or Alexis in any of the shots. Well, Mikaela liked them in the bag but wanted nothing to do with them outside of the bag! And Lexie kept squishing them so hard she started to kill some. So we left the girls indoors and Jackson and I did the honors!

Jacks has gone out quite often to see if the ladybugs are still around, and shockingly they are! We actually found one the other day on the leaf of Mikaela's bean plant that we occassionally take outdoors for more sunlight! They thought that was so COOL!!
