14 Layer Chocolate Cake with Dark Chocolate frosting. This one is my favorite but Jared thinks I'm thinking more of myself than what Lex would like. LOL...maybe he's right:)

These are mini yellow cakes. I would be to scared to try the fondant covered one but the one with just buttercream frosting looks yummy. The big plus, they're mini so Lex can have her own one while the other kids can have at the other ones!
Hello Kitty Cake Pops. I'd never heard of cake pops before but these look so fun! Not a traditional first birthday cake but tiny enough for our little Lex to have a blast with.

So help me out, I have no idea what to do. And if you have any cool suggestions let me know those too. I'm up for anything.

You are making me feel like such a slacker! My baby turned one about three minutes ago (in her peaceful sleep) and I still don't have a cake planned!!! Why am I still awake? : )
Those Hello Kitty pops are so cute!! And I'd be super impressed by anyone who could make them!
I can't believe she's almost 1!
I think the mini ackes are a cool idea- you could make one for each kid!
Mini cakes!! They are cute and you can make different flavors too, since you're indecisive about the cake, you must be indecisive about the flavors too! The Hello Kitty ones are darling too, I don't think you can go wrong with cake. I have a good frozen sundae cake recipe that Paula Dean created, its good and I hear its a hit for kids birthday parties. I'm not a good cook but everytime I make it people love it, and the best part is, there's no baking required! But its not a good cake for Alexis, because its frozen. I just love it so much I had to share.
Love the mini cakes: 1) it's still cold/flu season so individual cakes take care of icky germ sharing 2) you won't miss out on the classic one-year old digging in ritual like you would if you go with the Hello Kitty pops...although those are cute - who knew you could put cake on a stick? What WILL they think of next?! :)
Alright, I usually try to be a trendsetter, but I have to go with the mini cakes...good idea! And don't worry about the fondant (spelling?), it takes like poo and is hard!
I LOVE the cakes on a stick! My kids would think that was SO much fun!
maybe it is the prego in me, but i would like to eat all of the above! can't wait to see the final decision
When I opened your blog and Hannah exclaimed "I WANT THOSE!" about the Hello Kitty cakes, I believe that Alexis may feel the same way. However, I am all for the comment about Paula Dean's sundae cake. Have you SEEN that thing!? I watched her make it - it was unbelievable and looked soooo yummy.
i love bakerella! of course i am a chocolate girl so the 14 layer one looks divine. i was thinking that i wanted to make that cake when i saw it on bakerella. good luck! let us know which one you chose.
I think the mini cakes would be fun. Then you get to explore all the options and you aren't limited to just one!
